Why are patients choosing the GentleWave® Procedure?

GentleWave is a modern way to treat root canal infections that offers high-tech, effective cleaning designed to reach the most complex tooth anatomies where bacteria can hide. Through a minimally invasive process, the GentleWave Procedure uses unique fluid delivery into the tooth to clean and disinfect with a proprietary mix of multisonic energy and vortical flow in a precise manner that allows the tooth structure to maintain its natural functionality and strength.

Over 80% of consumers describe feeling anxious or scared over receiving a root canal procedure.

But root canal procedures don’t have to be painful if patients choose to receive the GentleWave Procedure. The GentleWave Procedure promotes pain-free fast healing. And because its technology is so effective at cleaning the root canals inside a tooth, there’s a high likelihood the tooth will stay clean well into the future.

WHAT DOES THE GENTLEWAVE PROCEDURE JOURNEY LOOK LIKE ONCE IN A DOCTOR’S CHAIR?

STEP 1

Once the patient’s tooth is properly numbed, the inside of the tooth is accessed via a small hole created on the tooth’s biting surface. This is necessary so that the GentleWave Procedure can effectively reach the root canal system.

STEP 2

The GentleWave Procedure instrument is placed on the tooth, and the GentleWave System is activated to start cleaning. Patients might hear a whooshing sound. This is the sound of optimized procedure fluids flowing into and out of the tooth in a rapid manner. The fluid concentration is automatically adjusted to maximize efficiency and is degassed to prevent vapor lock, which is crucial for the effective delivery of the fluid.

STEP 3

The proprietary fluid dynamic technology of the GentleWave System creates a cascade of multisonic energy inside the tooth to loosen up debris in the most remote areas of the root canal system. Then the system-generated vortical flow lifts the debris and bacteria up and out of the canals.

STEP 4

The fluid, along with debris and bacteria, is vacuumed out of the GentleWave Procedure instrument’s outflow port, leaving the inside of the tooth spotlessly clean. Since the technology is designed to ensure negative pressure at the root end, fluid is kept inside the confines of the tooth to prevent any extrusion of solutions into the tissue outside the tooth. This results in an ideal environment for rapid healing and minimal postoperative pain1.

STEP 5

The doctor removes the GentleWave Procedure instrument from the tooth and fills the canal system with a permanent material to keep the root from becoming reinfected.

STEP 6

The doctor either places a permanent restoration on the tooth or the patient returns to their dentist for a final restoration.

Who Is a Candidate for the GentleWave Procedure?

The GentleWave procedure is suitable for a wide range of patients requiring root canal treatment. Ideal candidates include individuals who have been diagnosed with pulpitis, abscesses, or other conditions affecting the dental pulp that necessitate a root canal. The procedure is particularly beneficial for patients seeking a minimally invasive alternative to traditional root canal therapy.

GentleWave is effective in treating various dental issues such as deep decay, fractured teeth, or trauma that has compromised the health of the dental pulp. It is also an excellent option for re-treatments of previously failed root canals.

A thorough evaluation by one of our skilled endodontists will determine if the GentleWave procedure is the right choice for your specific dental needs.

How Long Does the GentleWave Procedure Take?

The GentleWave procedure is designed to be an efficient and effective alternative to standard root canal therapy. On average, the procedure can take anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes to complete. This duration includes the time required for patient preparation, the actual GentleWave procedure, and any post-procedural steps needed to ensure the best possible outcome.

Is GentleWave Covered by Insurance?

The coverage for the GentleWave procedure can vary depending on your dental insurance plan. Some insurance providers may cover GentleWave as part of their standard root canal therapy benefits, while others may consider it an elective or advanced procedure and provide partial coverage or none at all. It is essential to check with your insurance provider to understand your specific benefits and coverage options.
